Why choose JPG?
JPEG opens in many photo editors, messaging apps and print workflows that cannot read HEIC. It is a useful sharing copy while you keep your original.
What changes in this conversion?
JPEG adds lossy compression and flattens alpha onto your selected background. Depth maps, gain maps, Live Photo video and original EXIF are not included.
How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Choose a still HEIC file with the file picker, or drag it into the workspace.
- Select JPG as your output format. Keep original dimensions for a full-size copy, or resize for email. Start at 90% quality and inspect the downloaded photo.
- Choose Convert, then download your file. For a batch, Download ZIP collects successful results.
Limits and browser compatibility
Single still HEVC images are verified, including iPhone 8 Plus, 13 Pro and a 24.5 MP 15 Pro sample. Native decoding is used for supported sRGB images; a local WASM decoder handles other supported HEVC images. Recognized Apple Display P3 is converted to SDR sRGB consistently. Unsupported codecs, multiple-photo collections and sequences are rejected. All outputs are 8-bit; HDR rendering and unknown ICC profiles require native support and can vary.
Will my portrait HEIC be rotated correctly?
HEIF rotation and mirror properties are applied during decoding. Verified iPhone portrait samples keep their displayed dimensions; original orientation metadata is not copied.
Can I recover HDR from the JPG?
No. This is an 8-bit SDR sharing copy. Gain maps, depth data and the source’s high dynamic range are not preserved; keep the HEIC original.
Does my file leave my device?
No. The worker reads your file locally and creates your download in browser memory. Original metadata is always removed. The output uses 8-bit sRGB pixels.
Can I convert a batch?
Yes. Select up to 24 files within the 256 MB batch limit. Each file is processed separately, so a failed image does not prevent the others from completing.
