Why choose PNG?
PNG stores developed pixels losslessly and can keep transparent areas. It works well for compositing, annotations and editors that do not import HEIC.
What changes in this conversion?
PNG can be much larger than HEIC. Lossless PNG encoding does not make the HEIC source lossless, preserve its HDR range or restore detail already removed by compression.
How to convert HEIC to PNG
- Choose a still HEIC file with the file picker, or drag it into the workspace.
- Select PNG as your output format. Leave dimensions unchanged when editing the original pixel grid. PNG needs no quality slider; resize only if you intend to reduce the image.
- Choose Convert, then download your file. For a batch, Download ZIP collects successful results.
Limits and browser compatibility
HEVC still photos use native decoding where reliable and a bundled WASM fallback. Recognized Display P3 profiles are mapped to 8-bit SDR sRGB; supported alpha is retained. Multi-photo files, sequences and unrecognized primary codecs are rejected. Unknown ICC/HDR variants depend on native browser decoding. Standard source and device memory limits still apply.
Does PNG preserve all HEIC information?
PNG preserves the decoded 8-bit pixels, not HEIC gain maps, depth, auxiliary images, original metadata or HDR precision.
Why is the PNG larger?
HEIC uses efficient photographic compression. PNG stores the developed raster losslessly, so a full-size photo often needs more bytes.
Does my file leave my device?
No. The worker reads your file locally and creates your download in browser memory. Original metadata is always removed. The output uses 8-bit sRGB pixels.
Can I convert a batch?
Yes. Select up to 24 files within the 256 MB batch limit. Each file is processed separately, so a failed image does not prevent the others from completing.
