Why choose JPG?
JPEG offers broad interoperability with older editors, office software and photo workflows. You can resize a large AVIF before sharing.
What changes in this conversion?
AVIF may store alpha, 10-bit detail or wide-gamut color that an 8-bit JPEG cannot preserve. Re-encoding is lossy and is not guaranteed to reduce file size.
How to convert AVIF to JPG
- Choose a still AVIF file with the file picker, or drag it into the workspace.
- Select JPG as your output format. Choose a background for transparent areas. Keep a high quality setting for intermediate editing and retain the original AVIF.
- Choose Convert, then download your file. For a batch, Download ZIP collects successful results.
Limits and browser compatibility
Still AVIF is decoded natively where supported; a local libavif WASM fallback covers supported SDR profiles. Real 8-bit and 10-bit SDR photographs are tested. Output is always 8-bit sRGB. Animated AVIF and multi-photo containers are rejected. HDR and unknown ICC transformations depend on native support, with no archival tone-mapping guarantee.
Can this convert an animated AVIF?
No. Sequences are rejected rather than silently dropping their frames. Export a still image first.
Does a 10-bit AVIF produce a 10-bit JPG?
No. The verified 10-bit SDR fixture is reduced to the app’s 8-bit output pipeline. Higher precision and HDR range are not retained.
Does my file leave my device?
No. The worker reads your file locally and creates your download in browser memory. Original metadata is always removed. The output uses 8-bit sRGB pixels.
Can I convert a batch?
Yes. Select up to 24 files within the 256 MB batch limit. Each file is processed separately, so a failed image does not prevent the others from completing.
